This is the eighteenth union local to back Jason
Issaquah, WA – Former King County Deputy Prosecutor and 8th Congressional District Democratic Candidate Jason Rittereiser continues building momentum among organized labor. Today, Jason announced his seventh endorsement from a firefighters’ local with the Renton Firefighters’ IAFF Local 864 backing his candidacy.
“We believe that Jason is the definitive choice to represent our members and fight for their rights in Congress at a time when public sector unions are under constant threat,” Chris Krystofiak, Political Director of the Renton Firefighters IAFF Local 864, says. “We’re sure Jason will be relentless in his defense of our collective bargaining rights and work tirelessly to advance the interests of all working people.”
Jason has now been endorsed by twenty-one organizations, the most endorsements of any candidate in the race. Jason has already earned the endorsement of six firefighters’ union locals: Tacoma firefighters, Maple Valley firefighters, East Pierce Fire & Rescue, Upper Kittitas County Medic One, the Valley Professional firefighters, and the Eastside firefighters.
Other endorsing union locals include the Pile Drivers and Divers Local 196, Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local 66, AFSCME Council 28 Washington Federation of State Employees, Washington Interior and Exterior Systems’ Local 41, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 598, International Union of Operating Engineers Locals 612 and 286, the Renton Police Guild, the Communication Workers of America’s Pacific Northwest Council, the ILWU Puget Sound Council, and the ILWU Foremen’s Local 98.
Renton Firefighters’ IAFF Local 864 represents over 100 uniformed personnel serving the city of Renton and surrounding areas.
“I am incredibly honored by the tremendous support from firefighters and first responders for our campaign,” Jason said. “I know that for our public servants that put themselves in danger to ensure our safety, collective bargaining isn’t only about protecting your livelihood – it’s about making sure you have the resources to do your job safely. I will fight every single day in Congress to honor the trust they’ve placed in me to get them the equipment and resources they need to come home to their own families safely after every shift protecting our communities.”
Jason currently works to protect the rights of employees, as a voice for thousands of Washingtonians who have faced discrimination in the workplace, had their wages stolen by their employers, and other workers who have faced injustice.
