This endorsement marks the thirteenth union local to back Jason
Issaquah, WA – Former King County Deputy Prosecutor and 8th Congressional District Democratic Candidate Jason Rittereiser continues building support among organized labor. Today, Jason announced his latest endorsement from a firefighters’ local with the Tacoma Firefighters’ IAFF Local 31 backing his candidacy.
Jason has now been endorsed by sixteen organizations, more than twice the number of endorsements of any other candidate in the race. Jason has already earned the endorsement of five firefighters’ union locals: Maple Valley, East Pierce Fire & Rescue, Upper Kittitas County Medic One, the Valley Professional firefighters, and the Eastside firefighters.
Other endorsing union locals include the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 598, International Union of Operating Engineers Locals 612 and 286, the Renton Police Guild, the Communication Workers of America’s Pacific Northwest Council, the ILWU Puget Sound Council, and the ILWU Foremen’s Local 98.
Tacoma Firefighters’ IAFF Local 31 represents the nearly 400 uniformed personnel serving the cities of Fircrest, Fife, and Tacoma.
“Jason’s passion for the working people of this district and his years of dedicated public service made him the clear choice to represent our members in Congress,” Ryan Mudie, President of the Tacoma Firefighters IAFF Local 31, says. “We’re confident Jason will be a champion for our members’ rights and the rights of all working people for years to come.”
“I am deeply humbled by the outpouring of support from firefighters and first responders for our campaign,” Jason said. “As the son of a police officer, the support of those that put their lives on the line for our safety means a lot to me. I will fight every single day in Congress to honor the trust they’ve placed in me to get them the equipment and resources they need to keep us safe.”
Jason currently works to protect the rights of employees, as a voice for thousands of Washingtonians who have faced discrimination in the workplace, had their wages stolen by their employers, and other workers who have faced injustice.
