Jason has now secured twelve union endorsements
Issaquah, WA – Former King County Deputy Prosecutor and 8th Congressional District Democratic Candidate Jason Rittereiser continues to build momentum across the district, securing the endorsement of the International Union of Operating Engineers’ Local 286.
The support of the IUOE Local 286 marks Jason’s twelfth labor union endorsement and fifteenth organizational endorsement overall, more than twice the endorsements of any other candidate in the race.
Other endorsing union locals include the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 598, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 612, the Renton Police Guild, the Communication Workers of America’s Pacific Northwest Council, the ILWU Puget Sound Council, the ILWU Foremen’s Local 98, and five IAFF union locals.
IUOE is one of the nation’s longest standing unions, tracing its roots back to the 1800s when the organization was first established as the National Union of Steam Engineers in America. For over a century, IUOE has been leading the charge for safe working conditions, fair pay, and non-discriminatory hiring practices. IUOE Local 286 represents over 3,150 members in Auburn and the surrounding area working in skilled, family wage jobs that provide a pathway to the middle class.
“After thoroughly vetting all the candidates in this race, our members had no doubts that Jason Rittereiser was the best choice to champion the concerns of working families in Congress,” Richard Spencer, IUOE Local 286 Business Manager, says. “We believe Jason’s deep roots on both sides of this district give him the credibility to unify working people in Eastern and Western Washington in the fight for workers’ rights.”
“The support of an organization with such a long, proven track record of success fighting for working families is a huge boost of momentum to our campaign,” Jason said. “Clearly our message of fighting to get a broken Congress to work for real people instead of special interests is resonating throughout the district.”
